Features

Optical Stabiliser
This ultra-telephoto zoom lens covers a telephoto range up to 500mm and allows photographers to bring the subject close with short perspective. Sigma’s original OS (Optical Stabilizer) function offers the equivalent of using a shutter speed approximately 4 stops faster. It is ideal for sports, wildlife and landscape photography with handheld shooting.

SLD Glass
Three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements provide excellent correction for chromatic aberration. This lens is equipped with a rear focus system that minimises fluctuation of aberration caused by focusing. The super multi-layer lens coating reduces flare and ghosting. High image quality is assured throughout the entire zoom range.

HSM
This lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), which ensures a quiet and high-speed AF as well as full-time manual focusing capability.

Compatible with Sigma APO Tele Converters
The addition of the (optional) 1.4x EX DG APO or 2x EX DG APO Tele Converters produce a 210-700mm F7-8.8 MF ultra-telephoto zoom lens or a 300-1000mm F10-12.6 MF ultra-telephoto zoom lens respectively. A removable tripod collar (TS-31) is included as a standard component.

	This is my first long lense from sigma, having always used Nikon, but could not afford their equivilent. I have been getting very sharp clear results with the Nikon D5100 at f5-6 . It is quite heavy, but if a 5' petite lady can cope then anyone can. I did find at least a monopod was essential for me.	Judi Mahon 28/01/12 at 04:08 PM
	I was looking for a replacement for my Sigma 170-500 and as my hands are not as steady as they were,I quite fancied the new O/S system.Ordered it online,payed by direct bank transfer and saved 3%. What a bargain? Arrived next day by courier! The lens itself is somewhat larger and a bit heavier than its predecessor,but very well built.Really feels the business.Had a few problems with the O/S and auto focus @ first so discussed with the tech. guys,who were most helpful but managed to sort it before they got back in touch.It was comforting to know that there was a backup team available if I needed them? Have now run a few tests @ different apertures and shutter speeds and have been able to settle for the moment on 1/125 sec. @f8,but i'm sure with practice these numbers can be lowered?Contrast and color for such a complex lens is amazing and a definite step up from its predecessor.Now I look forward to some bright crisp Winter days to test it to its full limits!
